Why, hello everyone! It’s been quite a while, hasn’t it? I hope everyone is doing well.
I hope you all can excuse my absence on here. A LOT has happened in the last few months. I’ll try no to make this too TL;DR, so sorry if it is in advanced!
To sum up what happened without going into too much detail, me, my dad and the animals packed up our things and moved out to Detroit! Yes, you heard me right: Detroit! You’re probably saying to yourself: “Sam, are you nuts?! Why Detroit?!” :O
Well, basically what happened is that we could just no longer afford to live in our old house due to a slew of things and just wanted a change in scenery. After living in the same town your whole life, you just kinda get sick of the same place day after day, you know? And so far we’re really digging it! :D
Where we’re at is very nice and we’re happy with our new place, which is a duplex. We live on the right side and don’t have a neighbor yet. It’s located in a nice, well kept neighborhood. Our neighbors so far have been very kind and welcoming to us. Contrary to what people think, not all of Detroit is a ghetto. In fact, a lots of areas of Detroit are beautiful and have many cool places to check out with lots of kind people. It’s really all about where you are at. But a lot of towns are like this, but Detroit is just stereo-typed as bad. So take it from me: not everywhere here is scary and not everyone wants to shoot or mug you! ;P
Our house is A LOT smaller than our old place, but it’s just the perfect size for us. Our place was much larger, but we also lived with my bf and a roommate. This place is just the perfect fit for us now.
I ADORE the house! My new room is pretty cool. I live upstairs, which is awesome cause I’ve always wanted to live upstairs! Compared to the last house, it’s about 1/3rd the size of my old room, but I’ve manged to make it work and fit most of my old stuff, although I had to get rid of a chuck of my stuff upon moving, but that wasn’t anything big to me. I’ve decorated it pretty much how my old one looked, with my signature look of walls covered with posters. I even managed to successfully unpack and fit all 9 boxes of my figures & plushies! xD
For the rest of the house have a good sized living room, a big basement that is currently full of empty boxes/stuff we have yet to unpack, a cool looking living room, a bathroom and a nice kitchen. My dad has a good sized room as well that he is happy with.
As for the animals, my cats LOVE my stairs, especially hauling ass up and down them at ungodly hours of the night. But that’s cats for ya!
My dogs really like it here, too! My favorite part of the house (besides my room, of course!) is the front yard. We have a good sized yard that’s surrounded by a white picket fence and it is absolutely perfect for the dogs! I always felt bad for them at our old place because they never had anywhere to run around and play at. I always them to have a nice, big yard to chill out at during the warm summer days instead of being inside cooped up all the time like they were at the old place. Ever since we moved here all they want to do is sit outside, lie in the grass and watch the people and animals walk by. I can honestly say that this is the happiest I have seen them in a long, long time. The cats, too! :3
So far we’ve been here for four weeks now, and while I occasionally still struggle with my Trichotillomania (hair pulling) and anxiety-particularly at night, (but I’ve always struggled with that)- I have noticed that the move has actually helped with my depression/Bi-Polar episodes! I’ve noticed that I have been having noticeably less episodes and have been eating/sleeping/smiling more. Other people have commented on it as well and have said that I look more healthier than I have in quite some time, which feels wonderful to hear! :D
I also haven’t had a seizure in almost a month, which is a HUGE accomplishment, as I was having up to three Petite Mal’s a day. Thankfully I have only ever had two Grand Mal’s, and both times I was hospitalized right away and was never seriously injured, except for one where I hit the ground, which caused my glasses to break and getting a black eye. I saw a neurologist, who determined that my seizures were caused to the stress of moving and I have most likely inherited my mom’s epilepsy. I am working on getting on meds that will hopefully prevent future episodes! :)
Besides the seizures, the other unfortunate part is that my boyfriend was unable to come with us due to the distance from his job because he was finally hired in full time. It was hard at first, but we’re making it work. For those wondering, we are still together and just as happy and as giddy in love as ever! We see each other every other weekend or so. I either come back out Ann Arbor/Dexter or he comes out here and we hang out or go on dates. In fact, we saw Captain America last weekend (which was AWESOME!) and this weekend he’s coming out here to stay for a few days. I’ve had people ask how we’ve been making this work, and I refer them back to my parents. When I was younger my parents needed some time apart, so they mutually decided to separate (but were still married) for ELEVEN YEARS! Afterwards, they worked things out and got back together. My dad then moved back in again, and they continued to be together happily for 24 years, up until my mom’s death on June 2nd, 2012. While me and boyfriend Matt haven’t been together as long as them (we’re going on 4 years), I defiantly see us being together that long. I know we’re going to have a happy future together, wither we are living together or not. Separation isn’t going to bring us apart. We’re much stronger than that. Hell, I say if my parents can do it, then us living less than an hour apart is a piece of cake compared to them! ;)
Regardless, that’s what’s been up and the reason why I’ve been silent on here and my other sites for a while. We actually just recently just got TV and internet again. I have 3G on my phone (which was actually my first cell phone!), so I was able to update my Twitter and Facebook from time to time, but it made it a struggle to update sites like deviantART and Tumblr, so I wanted to wait until I could properly update everything to let everyone know the situation and that I haven’t died. I hope no one’s thought that! =p
Well, I think I’ve rambled enough. I just wanted to let everyone know why I’ve been gone. I hope I’ve answered everyone’s questions. I hope everyone is doing well and taking care of themselves as well as others.
Now that I have internet again I’m available to talk to again on all of my sites. I don’t work or really do much or anything, so I am free basically anytime, so feel free to contact me if you need anything or just want to talk. I love to talk! I am also open to commissions again if anyone is interested. You can contact/inbox/note me on any of my sites that have the option available and we can work things out!
You can find me on any of these sites:
Facebook: www.facebook.com/drivingblind666 (I only add people I know. Any friend requests I get by people who I do not know I do not accept.)
This will probrobly be my only major update/journal for a while, as I am still settling in/getting used to everything, and I’m pretty sure nothing too exciting will be happening for a while. But, if something does, I will be sure to let you all know about it!
Although you can expect to start seeing new artwork again on a regular basis now that I have my scanner and internet again! I just finished a new piece that featured my characters Helena Birmingham and Desmond Andrews from my upcoming comic “Unwrapped” that you can see here: (http://drivingblind666.deviantart.com/art/Opposites-Attract-Unwrapped-HxD-447104081) There will be loads more artwork of them, as well as my boys from my other comic “Scars of Yesterday,” as well as fan art coming soon. Also expect to (finally) see the rest of chapter 1 of SoY and the eventual start of UW very soon! I am so excited to finally debut it. The story and characters have been developing in my head for over two years now! So it really feels good to finally show them off and start the project, as you can imagine! ;p I hope you all will enjoy reading both of my comics and find yourself as enveloped in the stories, as well be able to relate with the characters as much as I do!
Until next time, take care everyone! <3
